Former President George H.W. Bush was released from the hospital on Friday after a nearly two-week stay for an infection, a spokesman for the former president said.
"President @GeorgeHWBush was discharged from @MethodistHosp after treatment for an infection," the spokesman, Jim McGrath, tweeted. "His doctors report he is doing well and is happy to return home."
Bush was hospitalized on April 22 for an infection that had spread to his blood.
The hospitalization came just hours after the funeral of his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, who died last month after announcing that she would cease medical treatment for chronic illnesses.
The former president was hospitalized twice last year.
