A gas line explosion in downtown Sun Prairie, WI has destroyed several buildings and ignited a major fire.

Demolished buildings and nearby cars are ablaze.

Firemen are working to fight the inferno.

While it is known that a gas line explosion caused the blaze, it is NOT known why the gas line exploded.

Kevin Konopacki said that around 6:20 p.m., firefighters and police responded to a reported gas leak in downtown Sun Prairie, a community of about 30,000. Witnesses reported the powerful blast about 7:15 p.m. It sent a plume of smoke and flames into the air. Konopacki said the firefighters and officer were taken to a hospital. He said he didn’t know if anyone else was hurt. HALF-MILE RADIUS EVACUATED! UPDATE 11:13 PM EDT -- Reports the fire is growing much worse; ENTIRE CITY BLOCK now allegedly ablaze!
