Route 12, the main road on the Outer Banks, is underwater in MOST locations due to storm surge. Anyone who failed to evacuate, is now trapped on the outer banks of North Carolina.
And it is going to get worse. MUCH WORSE over the next 24 hours.
The beast already producing 86mph gusts at Cape Lookout and 76mph gusts at Atlantic Beach, NC. Parts of Morehead City already close to 4” of rain.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from south of South Santee River to Edisto Beach, South Carolina.
Hurricane Florence's forward speed continues to decrease, now moving WNW at 5 mph.
The updated rainfall forecast from @NWSWPC now expands the area that can expect 20+ inches, which includes southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina. The risk for flooding spans as far west as the Appalachian Mountains.
