UPDATED 3:55 8:18 PM EDT -- (SEE BOTTOM) News is breaking from the Middle East as reports surface claiming Turkey has ELECTED the Ambassador from Israel, and ALLEGEDLY broken Diplomatic Relations as well, over the killing yesterday in the Gaza Strip. The Government of France is now urgently warning of "war" in the Middle East over deteriorating relations with Turkey.
35,000-50,000 Gazans protested the opening of the new US Embassy in Jerusalem. When dozens tried to rush the security fence, a number of them were shot dead. (Stupid is as Stupid does.)
Prior to the protests, a number of Palestinian groups allegedly warned Israelis to pack their bags and leave because, they said, Arabs intended to charge into Israel and "slaughter" people.
Acting on that threat, the Israeli military positioned security forces to protect from such an act, and when dozens charged the security fence, the IDF opened fire.
Now, the government of Turkey, under the ruthless and brutal Dictator Recypt Erdogan, has allegedly broken Diplomatic Relations with Israel and ejected its Ambassador.
This is a developing story. Updates will appear below. Please check back.
In a tit-for-tat move, Israel has asked a Turkish consul to leave the country, according to the Israeli foreign ministry.
A ministry spokesman said the official was asked to return to Turkey "for consultations for a period of time," according to RT.
The decision was also likely influenced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's strident rhetoric. On Monday, he accused Israel of carrying out "genocide" against the Palestinians. He also referred to the country as a "terrorist state."
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Turkish president of being "among Hamas' biggest supporters...there is no doubt that he well understands terrorism and slaughter...I suggest that he not preach morality to us."
Earlier in the day, Turkey had asked Israeli Ambassador Eitan Naeh to leave the country "for a while" in protest of the massacre of 60 Gazans who had gathered to protest the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem on Monday.
Naeh was summoned to the foreign ministry on Tuesday and asked to "return to his country for a period of time," according to an official who leaked the news to Israeli media. Turkey said on Monday it would recall its ambassadors from Tel Aviv and Washington.
Turkey has expelled a second Israeli diplomat after Israel ousted Turkish consul general, in the escalating diplomatic dispute over Gaza deaths.
