A Tsunami Warning Buoy  in the Caribbean Sea is now in "Event Mode" alerting authorities to a sudden and dramatic change in sea-depth: 35 METERS ! ! !   If this is not a malfunction, someone in is for a really bad day . . .

The buoy, operated by the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) is showing a sudden drop from 4495 meters to about 4480 meters, then skyrocketing back up to 4515 meters within a time span of about 15 seconds!   This is utterly extraordinary and could signal a disastrous Tsunami coming for folks whose land is bordered by the Caribbean Sea.

According to the US Geological survey, only a minor earthquake took place anywhere in that area, and it was of a small magnitude  --nowhere near what would be needed to cause something like this with the ocean.

Here is the actual data from Buoy 42407 located 240 nautical miles southwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico:

It is possible -- even LIKELY -- that the buoy is malfunctioning.  A change in sea depth of this scale would mean unmitigated disaster for a lot of people. Here is a photo of the actual buoy out in the ocean:

I am attempting to reach my contact at the National Data Buoy Center to determine what's taking place, and this story will be updated if and when I reach that person.

Here is a direct link to the National Data Buoy Center.

I'm checking the buoy for the past days on the link that you gave, and today NOAA's DECLARED INOPERATIVE the buoy and will not get more data. There's no more a tsunami alert system for the Caribbean Sea. Also, TODAY, the NOAA's Okeanos ROV ship is at the southwest part of Puerto Rico, very close to the buoy location making a "research". Coincidence? I don't think so.

You should investigate what the NOAA's Okeanos research ship is doing in Puerto Rico Trench and the waters around the island. They are in a mission called 'Océano Profundo', and for me, is not necessarily a research mission. It's something else. In 2015, they were in Puerto Rico too, and earthquakes rose up substantially during their mission. I live in Puerto Rico and what you publish about the buoy is not ussual. They are doing something.

I'm from Puerto Rico and here's an earthquake swarn in the Caribbean Sea, at the southwest of the island, for the past days. Maybe you should investigate what is the NOAA's Okeanos ROV ship doing in Puerto Rico from October 30 to November 20. They have a mission called Oceano Profundo. I think they know what is going on... and is not exactly a research mission. It's something else. In 2015 they were here, and earthquakes rised substantially here.

Not suggesting that this has to do with underwater warfare....however...

I would imagine the nature of undersea conflicts are covert--much like cyber warfare--and happen LONG before overt hostilities--such as bullets and missiles--are exchanged between nations on land.

Reading of depth changes are due to pressure changes. Might it have been caused by an explosive?

Could it have gotten snagged on the dive plane of a submarine?

This is very near Venezuela, it could have been grabbed and pulled by a lurking sub's diving plane and then released. I imagine our units would know the locations of these but our opponents.....I doubt it.

    Cheers!
