A major Winter Storm will form this week over Texas, bringing ICE up 3/4" on trees and power lines in some places, and FEET of snow into other places, affecting even New Jersey and New York City.

Weather forecasters are already telling people in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, southern Arkansas, and Virginia to "have your generators ready" for this weekend. Large accretions of ice are forecast to take place wreaking havoc on electric grids from Dallas, to Austin, San Antonio and even HOUSTON!!!!!
In Louisiana, ice will occur from Alexandria, north through Shreveport, get far worse into Monroe all the way to Greenville, MS
In Mississippi, ice will accrete from south of Jackson all the way north to Tupolo, MS. Then the storm grows as it moves east.
As the storm moves east, the ice changes to sleet, then to snow, and will absolutely SLAM the southeastern states, with what is described in some areas as "feet" of snow.
Snow will also move north Saturday-into-Sunday into New Jersey and New York City with heavy accumulations occurring in those areas as well.
Those of you who live in the south should shut off your outdoor garden hose spickets and shut the water valve off under the house, then open the spicket and allow remaining water to drain, so as to prevent frozen pipes.
Those of you in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas should make certain the crawl spaces beneath your home are sealed-off from winds, and your water pipes are wrapped with foam or other pipe insulation against freezing.

Plan for going day(s) without power this weekend. School cancellations next week. Do not plan a road trip this weekend. This could be a situation where people get stuck on the highway.
