The potential "Nor'Easter" snow storm I reported earlier this week, is now CONFIRMED for this weekend, Sunday-into-Monday. Weather Service is forecasting "Heavy snow" of 6"-10" in New York City with higher amounts to the north.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for my town in northeastern New Jersey, just three miles due west of the Empire State Building in New York City:

PREPARE!
You folks know this drill. PREPARE!
This is already being forecast to be "heavy, wet snow." That means it will likely bring down tree limbs, even entire trees, which then often take down electric power lines.
Be prepared for power outages.
Have a way to stay warm if electric is out. If you have an emergency generator, now is the time to service it; make certain is has a full fuel tank, Have spare fuel. Check that the oil is at proper level, and that you remember how to tie-it-in to your electric panel. Don't forget to TURN OFF THE MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER so you don't try to back-feed the entire electric grid from your tiny generator!
Have a way to cook if the power is out. Have food you can eat without cooking.
Have flashlights for each family member and spare batteries for each one.
Have a portable AM/FM/SW radio with spare batteries to keep abreast of official information.
Dress warm, in layers, if you have to go out.
If you have to drive, be sure to remember "GOING" is not the problem. STOPPING is the problem! So be uber-careful if you have to drive in the storm.
If your do not have HEAT during an electric outage, have heavy blankets on the beds for each family member. Dress warm even for inside the house. Cold can kill, so dress in layers and keep warm.
