Iran . . . Refuses

Iran . . . Refuses

Iranian authorities have reportedly communicated to Washington today, their refusal to engage in any discussions concerning a complete cessation of uranium enrichment.

Iran is seeking a nuclear deal with the U.S. that brings economic benefits to both sides, an Iranian diplomat says, ahead of a second round of talks between Tehran and Washington.

US President Donald Trump, stoked the situation by telling FOX News "If I were the Supreme Leader of Iran, I would be afraid to sleep in the same place for too long.”

Trump went on to say “I would reveal his location live on air, but that would be a bit stupid of me.”

He finished by saying “Instead of wasting enormous resources on long bomber flights, I decided to concentrate aircraft carriers in the region, to be prepared for any scenario in which NO DEAL is reached."

The Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Army said today "The statements of the President of the United States are reckless and irresponsible."

Iran has told the U.S. they will open certain economic sectors to US companies as part of an upcoming deal.  The Deputy Foreign Minister presented as negotiation points that:

  • Iranian oil and gas fields and mining investments will be open to US companies.
  • Tehran also plans to purchase more than 100 passenger airplanes.

The total economic activity could exceed $500 billion.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi states that the arming of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is not a subject for discussion: "I want to make it clear — Iran's missiles and defense systems are not subject to negotiation. Never."
