Here in northeastern Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service radar has indicated it has been snowing up here near Scranton for about an hour. Except there isn't ONE SNOWFLAKE to be seen.
Oh, and their "forecast" which, last night called for four to eight inches of snow, changed this morning to: One to Five inches of ice and snow.
How is it that they can't get the forecast correct even within eight hours?
What the hell are we getting for the tens of millions a year we put into their budget?
We give them space-based satellites and ground based weather (Doppler) radar to "see" the weather systems, weather stations scattered ALL OVER the country equipped with thermometers for temperature, Hygrometers to measure humidity, barometers to measure atmospheric pressure, Anemometers to measure wind speed and direction. We gave them supercomputers to make forecast models, and lord knows what other gadgets and gizmos we've provided. Yet eight lousy hours before a "major" snowstorm, they can't even call it right.
Oh, and we're supposed to believe them when they tell us there is "climate change?" Sorry. No.
It appears the "Weather Experts" are full of shit.
UPDATE 7:01 PM EST --
I took a nap from 3:41 until 6:15. Woke up with a sore throat and a gruff voice.
While I slept, it began precipitating: ALL SLEET. Probably half to three-quarters of an inch of it outside.
Just now, I (finally) see some actual snow mixing in.
PennDOT is out plowing and salting. Electric is still on. Cranked up the wood burning stove to keep it toasty warm in here.
So far, so good.
