BIG SNOW MONDAY INTO TUESDAY NEW YORK CITY / NJ

The first major snow storm for the New York City, New Jersey area of this Winter is slated to begin Monday and get possibly severe on Tuesday.

National Weather Service "models" show a storm moving into the area Monday afternoon and dumping snow, but then getting potentially severe on Tuesday.

The forecast remains "uncertain" as to where the "rain/snow line" will occur, but all indications as of Saturday afternoon show the region will be getting mostly snow, with upwards of 6" of accumulation likely.

On November 15, the weather service assured us in this NYC area that the rain/snow line from that storm would come early and wash away any accumulation. They were wrong. Thus, a woefully unprepared New York/New Jersey metro area quickly found itself paralyzed by snow and accumulating ice.

Since then, every new storm to make its way to this area has changed to rain before arriving here.  This winter has thus brought less than HALF it's "typical" snowfall as of this date.

With the pending Monday-Tuesday storm, it is also unclear is how much of the precipitation will be ICE.

In any case, folks in the New York City metropolitan area should prepare for significant winter weather Monday into Tuesday.  You know what that means . . . the Jersey guy below explains:

Foot of snow coming? Quick, run to the market for bread, eggs, and milk. Then we can all sit by the window, watching the snow and eating French toast, same as everyone else in town.
