I was across the street from the 2nd explosion during the Boston Marathon and that second video sounded the same. The first explosion caused all to look in that direction (obviously) and then the screams began building like a wave. When 2nd bomb went off, I looked up and followed debris going up while my husband looked forward and saw the crowd part like the Red Sea-many injured falling from the blast. We RAN! We were swept up in the crowds of people trying to escape. After a few seconds of running we broke out of the crowd to observe and make our next move. Following a panicked crowd is NOT the best decision. Called our kids and a contact in emergency services and was told to get the hell out of the city as they were locking it down and shutting cell service. Everyone was flooding the train station. Our thoughts were that whoever planted those bombs may have wanted more mass casualties by getting the train station full of panicked people. Thankfully that didn’t happen. I’m also acutely aware of the truth that occurred that day as opposed to what was reported on the news. No way I follow a crowd in panic; always take a second to assess and make a choice.
Could have been a manhole cover…be ready for anything these days. Have a plan and avoid unfamiliar crowded areas.

To me folks these days have be programmed to be weak and helpless - at least those in certain areas.
Growing up in the heartland, we were used to booming thunder that could make the animals jump, lightning cracks that would make you blind and set the neighbor dogs to howling and then there was the transformer hits that were scary and cool at the same time. They would start fires everywhere and sound like a firing squad went crazy at once. And anyone that has lived through a tornado knows that if sounds just like a freight train bearing down on you.
And these folks run cuz they hear a little boom. LOL. Not even curious where it is coming from just running - maybe even running right to it LOOOOOl!

In two of the videos, a very loud alarm/siren PRECEDES the explosion. In the video of the girl, people are standing looking in the direction of the alarm. She even appears to question what the alarm is BEFORE the explosion goes off.
I lived a couple of blocks from Times Square and I never heard an alarm that loud. That is much louder than siren of a police car or ambulance.

I was in Chicago, 2002 a few months after the 9/11. Extreme weather caused window cleaning gantries to crash to the street. Cars were crushed, people died.

I was nearby, the sound explosion was immense, could not see the source. People nearer the crash noise started to run, they were running towards me and my group. Its infectious. Humans are like any other animal. 99 out of 100 run, I defy you to do any different.
