Funding NOT Achieved.

Despite efforts to raise funding to pay the bills for this web site and radio so as to continue operations through December, sufficient donations did NOT come in.  As of December 1, donations totaling $3,134. came in, leaving a shortfall of $1,066.

When Amazon Web Services attempts to Debit my checking account Monday or Tuesday, their charge will be DECLINED by my bank.   At that point, Amazon will start a clock ticking, to the 28th of December.  If I pay before that date, the site remains on.  If I do not pay before that date, Amazon Web Services shuts to the site off.   It's not ME doing this, it would be them.

The trouble with that is new charges will be accruing during those 28 days.  Well, if I can't raise enough for November, then how can I expect to raise enough to pay those new charges for December?

In order to minimize that exposure I have to lock down the news articles on this site to the few Subscribers I have, which means the general public gets no access unless they subscribe.

I also have to curtail the streaming audio feeds during the show to Subscribers only for the same reason.   When the servers stream audio to listeners, I PAY FOR THAT via "bandwidth" (data transfer) charges from Amazon Web Services.  Limiting the audio feed to paying Subscribers will dramatically reduce the Internet listening audience, but I have no choice.

Unlike the Washington Post, who has billionaire Jeff Bezos as their "Sugar Daddy" to pay their net-loss bills, I do not have that luxury.

I earnestly hope additional donations will come in, but until they do, the LISTEN ONLINE buttons in the menus above will now only show-up once a subscriber has logged-in.   Similarly, the news articles on this site offer a free paragraph or two, but the links go to the SUBSCRIBE page.   Readers will have to login to read the news.

This is real life.  Nothing in life is free; someone ALWAYS has to bear the cost.  I cannot do that for the tens-of-thousands who come here regularly to view news.   I NEED help and the help has not come.

If funding arrives, I will re-open the site and audio feeds to the public.  Donations can be made using the yellow DONATE button below.

Those of you who cannot or will not use ONLINE FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS can mail cash, check or money order to:

Harold Turner
1906 Paterson Plank Road
North Bergen, NJ   07047
USA

Thank you for your help.

 UPDATE 10:20 AM EST --

As a result of this article, two additional donations have come in so far today:  Michelle S. $10,  Robert E. $100.  So the shortfall is down to $956.

Dear Hal, I wish I could donate more than my monthly $5....just can't. I don't use the radio, sorry I have other commitments at 9 PM. Your news feeds are crucial to me....but like another subscriber has noted......the news articles have lessened a great deal. I would appreciate more news articles because you seem to have the nitty-critty that we need...... A lot is happening and all this conversation about finances is sad....I wish it was better and I could help more. Lord, please provide for Hal to be able to get REAL NEWS....THE TRUTH to all of us who are interested.....so many are not.....many surprises are coming....courage, Hal....courage brethren. yb

Question: The intel us subscribers pay for with our money to read about is talked about on a radio show for ALL that dont pay for it, can hear about it??

I pay the monthly subscription. I feel like you should lock down the sight, and make it only available for subscribers. I have noticed lately that you are not posting many new, news stories each day. Sometime more than one day goes by with no new stories. I would definitely focus on your news stories. From what I can tell, from most peoples feedback, we are not interested in the radio show. We just want the latest in news, updated as often as possible.

Informal poll... I visit the website quite a few times each day looking for tidbits of info I can make use of, as well as the usually insightful comment section. I might listen to a prerecorded radio show if Hal mentions he will have additional information on something that I find important. I never listen to the show live.

Since you are taking a sort of informal poll, I should state that I am ALL about the radio show. The website is very much an added bonus. Given that I, like you, pay for a subscription as well as extra donations, I feel that I am entitled to chime in on that . Frankly, I don't think I would be here without the show.

That is not a knock against you, either, Jason. Perhaps all paying subscribers should make it known what it is they like most and least of Hal's work.

I agree with you Paul, the radio
show is important to me also.
        Especially the Wednesday 2 hr.
Sometimes the 1 hr show is hard to get. I wish Alan would
        broadcast that onthe 100 thou
        antenna.

There are people that think information is freeeee. They fall into several categories. But the two prevalent categories are: 1. Ignorant and 2. Stupid.

Keep the web site on a subscription basis based on the number of those willing to pay. And count me in! December's payment is on the way.

Band of Brothers, lets get the word out, Hal needs to be supported.

And if you won't help Hal, stick yourself in a Blue Canoe.

Some good Idea's below. I recall Hal saying he doesn't read the comments that much.

Maybe follow up by sending your Idea's to him via his email.

To be honest I kind of resent having to pay for the freeloaders as well. I'm just a working stiff like many others here I suspect. As for the radio? I have no use for it and it seems to me if it isn't paying for itself and we aren't using it why should we have to subsidize it?

Yeah ....MG ....saying what many of us thinking, I always like the old original .....seems tha site REALLY belongs to us ......ONLY THE PAYING SUPPORTERS.....LET'S TAKE A VOTE ......On how it is presented......

Subscriber ONLY ...... put it onsite that if you don't support you don't get the details , MAYBE just the headline .......then only an area for the first three days of tha REALLY GOOD stuff.

Get brutal Hal, If only a hundred of us that are supporting you then let it only come to that hundred.

Come on people pony up a little
    Cash.A hundred people shouldn't
have to pay each month for the
    hundreds of freeloaders and sponges.

I agree. IF YOU WANT THE INTEL OR THE NEWS THAT NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT... THEN PAY THE LITTLE 13.00. ..
    13.00 wont break the bank.

Yah, even IF those FreeLoaders sent a buck a month , Hal could walk away with a few bucks in his pocket.
GOTTA be something else out there better than AMAZON or GOOGLE , good grief those ass holes want to control the world anyway.

Hal, I appreciate your service and gladly pay the modest subscription for real, insider news that few others provide with your insights. So make the gauchers and freeloaders and critics/trolls pay to read what we do. Also, Amazon hates what you do and thus charges you outrageously. Also, the radio program is of NO value to me as I am too busy living life and serving others to listen. I can take time to read your posts and do so every day. So you can cut the time and effort and money you spend on the radio. Just my $.02 offered honestly and with appreciation to you, Hal.

Very well said Mark E and Mark B. I agree spending money with amazon and google is folly in my opinion. Dangerous folly. They will cut your throat.

You web site seems to be secure, keep it as secure or increase the security.

Hal you are being taken advantage of by your web hosting company. There are plenty of web hosting companies who provide unlimited bandwidth for your visitors to read for under 200 per month. Change providers and you will not have to go begging every month and you will not have run a subscription only service.

This exactly. My webhost provides unlimited bandwidth and storage to the tune of about $500 per year. Their up time has been >99% for the last 5 years (been with them over 20 years). I can't speak towards their disaster recovery as I've not had a situation where it was required, nor can I speak towards their politics or censorship.

Can you name that webhost of yours, Copperhead? Not that I am eliciting free advertising, but I might be interested in a host that offers such a good rate for unlimited bandwidth.

iPower.com - they sucked rocks for the longest time, but have been exceptional the last 5 years. My rates have gradually gone up over the years, but its not breaking the bank.

Hal, please consider requiring a subscription to access your site. You will have a record of those who access your site, and required subscriptions will increase the revenue stream.
