Explosions and Fire Smash Moscow Shopping Mall

Explosions and Fire Smash Moscow Shopping Mall

A gigantic fire is underway at a shopping mall in Moscow, Russia.  Numerous explosions have rocked the gigantic structure and authorities are already saying it is "arson."

One of the largest shopping malls near the Russian capital was engulfed in flames on Friday with authorities saying they were looking into the possibility of an arson attack.

The fire spread across an area of around 7,000 square meters (75,000 square feet) at the Mega shopping mall in the town of Khimki on the outskirts of Moscow and just seven kilometers (four miles) from the capital's Sheremetyevo Airport.

There is also a major fire raging in a tire factory in Barnaul, Siberia.

The factory mainly produces equipment for the Russian aviation industry & the military.

I've been to many a fire...never saw an explosion like that in anything but industrial facilities with hazardous materials. Looked like a flammable vapor explosion to me--or dynamite. Nothing you'd find in a shopping mall. Could be an (((oligarch))) getting rid of a losing property at a time when terrorists can be blamed. The devil is in the insurance policies.

Not a conspiracy theorist here. Stupidity accounts for 90% of what's superficially 'titillating'.

The usual/correct explanation would be 'natural gas explosion'. But then look at the distances between the (near simultaneous) detonations. And the intervening space was already on fire.

If this was a deliberate attack, then we have to ask ourselves if this was a military target?

The only way I can see this being a valid military target is if the mall was being used to house military items or soldiers and using civilians as shields.

I don't think this is what the Russians are doing but there were articles saying this was exactly what the Ukrainians were doing.

Either way, this is not good.

The best case scenario is the fire was unrelated to any military/terrorist action and that it started from an electrical or heater fault.

Let's pray that is the case.

If you're trying to sew chaos, everything is a military target. If you want emergency services to respond and then get blown away by bombs on delay in Moscow... just thinking out loud. Nevermind me, I don't know what I'm talking about. Listen to experts like Forrest Mosby and Getsum.

Once again, Hal gets the stories, and early.

Some more info:

Specialists recorded an increased concentration of phenol in the area of the Mega Khimki shopping center - what is known about the fire by this hour

The cause of the fire, previously, was a violation of safety regulations during welding. In November last year, OBI's latest inspection of a fire-filled hypermarket revealed 50 fire safety violations, emergency services said. As stated in the Ministry of Ecology of the Moscow Region, experts recorded an increased concentration of phenol in the area of a fire in a shopping center in Khimki.

What else is known about the fire so far:

— the fire was localized on an area of 7 thousand square meters, a criminal case was initiated after the fire in the Mega Khimki shopping center under the article “Performance of work or provision of services that do not meet life safety requirements”;

- the explosion occurred due to a large amount of paints and varnishes, gas cylinders also exploded, the shopping center itself was not significantly damaged as a result of the fire, and only a signboard and fragments of walls remained from the OBI hypermarket;

- the security guard of the OBI hypermarket died due to the structure of the burnt building falling on him, according to one of the versions, the man initially left the scene of the emergency, but later returned for his car, TASS reports;

- The shopping center will be closed today;

- the damage from the fire is preliminary estimated at 20-30 billion rubles, it will be a record for such objects, RIA Novosti was told in the All-Russian Union of Insurers.

Or, is this just a cover-up story?

I immediately thought the same thing about the lack of emergency vehicles. At the very least police officers would have been on the scene with blue lights by the time a fire got that large in a big city suburb. The lack of ANY emergency vehicles throws up more red flags than I can count. It also appears to me like 3 detonations went off in order

I've been a firefighter for around a dozen years now and I'd like to draw your attention to a few things that are readily apparent from this.

First is, you'll notice that there are no engines or firefighters visible in the vid. Any normal fire in an urban area does not grow to the point where it has spread that much and self vented before we get people on scene to attack it without help.

Second is, once a fire has self vented like this, you generally don't get smoke explosions, which means that there was something in there that created those pops. Malls don't generally contain the requisite chemicals to create large low speed explosions like that. It almost seems like firefighters may have caught wind that there was something in there and held way back. Given the energy released in those explosions, it would have been a good call.

Third point is the timing of those explosions. One does not need to have timed or remote control explosives to create this king of event as the fire spread can do this for you. Plus, given the apparently equal spacing between the events shown, makes me think something was planted.

Conclusion, given my training and experience, I would be asking for law as this fire is as suspicious as hell.

Excellent observation! I immediately noticed that as well. At the very least police officers with blue lights would have been on scene in minuets yet not a single emergency vehicle light anywhere. No blue or red. In a big city suburb that is VERY suspicious and a major red flag to me. In the video it looks like a timed demolition with 3 explosions. But the lack of emergency response vehicles makes absolutely no sense in the timeframe it would take a fire to progress that far
