IRAN NAVY TRIES TO GRAB BRITISH OIL TANKER

Five naval vessels from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have attempted to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranians were confronted by the British war ship HMS Montrose and chased away.

UPDATE 11:14 PM EDT --

A British oil tanker, the "Heritage" was leaving the Persian Gulf heading into the Strait of Hormuz to reach the open seas.  It was intercepted by the five Iranian boats and ordered to change course into Iran waters.

HMS Montrose trained its 30mm deck guns on the enemy fleet and warned them off.

The British Heritage tanker was being escorted through the flashpoint region by the Montrose amid feverish tensions between Iran and the West.

But the Navy frigate was scrambled into action when the rival boats reportedly approached the oil tanker and demanded it change course into Iranian waters.

According to anonymous officials, the Montrose came up from the rear of the tanker and aimed its fierce weapons at the Iranians - before issuing a verbal warning to get away.

A US aircraft was flying overhead at the time and recorded footage of the standoff, the officials said.

RETALIATION?

The attempted capture comes just days after British Royal Marines seized an Iranian crude oil supertanker off Gibraltar.

Commandos dramatically detained the Grace 1 tanker over suspicions it was carrying oil to its ally Syria in violation of EU sanctions last week.

Iran later issued a chilling threat of retaliation for last Thursday's daring raid.

President Hassan Rouhani warned on Wednesday that the UK will suffer "consequences" for its actions.

He said: "I tell the British that they are the initiator of insecurity and you will understand its consequences later."

And Iran's Major General Mohammad Bagheri warned the seizure of the Grace 1 "will not go unanswered".

Running a website is expensive. These ads pay pennies per click. Really pennies. If everyone who visited this website in a month donated just one dollar. Just one, Hal could fund this site n His radio show for a year!

Has anyone seen images of the so called Iranian boats?

The US says they had a plane overhead and captured the event. "A US aircraft was flying overhead at the time and recorded footage of the standoff, the officials said."

    So where are the images?

"A British oil tanker, the "Heritage" was leaving the Persian Gulf heading into the Strait of Hormuz to reach the open seas. It was intercepted by the five Iranian boats and ordered to change course into Iran waters."

Interesting choice of words because at its narrowest point, the tanker is either in Iranian or Oman waters. And I believe all ship pass into/through Iranian waters. There is no international waters at that narrowest point that ALL SHIPS MUST PASS THROUGH to get to the open waters ( Arabian sea.)

To bypass the many ad's, put your mouse on the scroll thing on the right side of screen. Force it to the bottom where Hal's mailing address information is. Comment's are located at this juncture.

I totally agree with Gregg, I understand you have to pay the bills and get tired of the monthly “donation drive” but all the ads are making the site almost unusable. Would it be possible to have a “premium plus” option or something similar for members to op to pay a few extra bucks a month to an ad free version?

This is rather funny. There was no attempt by the Iranians, that's assuming the craft in question were actually Iranian, to slow down the tanker let alone board it.

The Iranians are playing mind games now with the imperialists in and around the Gulf.

I wonder who will make the first mistake and start the shooting?

Will the khazars return to trying to sink more tankers and try to blame Iran?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

Using verbiage like imperialists and khazars says a different story. Truly Inquiring minds don't use these words.
