North Korea says 99.98% of its nearly 5 million "fever patients" since late April have fully recovered. The country has a near 0% COVID vaccination rate.
North Korea is reporting that 99.98 percent of their nearly five million COVID-19 “fever patients” have recovered from the disease since April, despite the country boasting a vaccination rate of near zero.
“The anti-epidemic campaign is improved to finally defuse the crisis completely,” North Korean state media, the KCNA said.
With the pandemic now over in North Korea, they are free to resume trade with South Korea and open up society again.
“Under the current trend, North Korea could announce in less than a month that its COVID crisis is over and that could be a prelude to resuming cross-border trade,” said Cheong Seong-chang, who serves as the director of the Sejong Institute’s North Korea studies center in South Korea.
