In his landmark speech at yesterday's ceremony to accept four formerly Ukrainian regions into Russia, President Vladimir Putin told Ukraine to Cease-Fire and return to the negotiating table. He pointed out that the four territories are "now Russian citizens, FOREVER." Instead of stopping its attacks, Ukraine attacked worse.
Russia told Ukraine not to attack the areas that had the Referendums, after the referendums were completed, or the Hammer would be dropped. People are now being killed across the referendum areas by Ukraine shelling. Donetsk today,. Across city is being hit. What is Russia going to do now?
Apparently, what Russia is going to do now is answered: trainloads of Russian Iskander-M hypersonic missiles are now entering the Kherson Region. Video below shows one such trainload:

This is a Variant for the Russian Armed Forces Iskander missile forces, with two 9M723 quasi-ballistic missiles with published range 415 km, rumored 500 km. Speed Mach 6–7, flight altitude up to 6–50 km, nuclear capable stealth missile, controlled at all stages, not ballistic flight path.
Immediately after the launch and upon approach to the target, the missile performs intensive maneuvering to evade anti-ballistic missiles. The missile constantly maneuvers during flight as well.
These missiles are REAL power. This is very heavy military weaponry; not some rinky-dink token of power. Ukraine is bringing this upon itself.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced a while ago that Russian forces managed to open a corridor and withdraw from the city. This fact is considered a great success given the situation. The Russian forces withdrew amid heavy shelling and heavy Ukrainian fire, and of course not without bloodshed. There are losses.
The fall of the city of Krasny Liman opens the gate to Lugansk and now the Russians are urgently called to regroup, reinforce and stabilize the front because they risk losing what they had won months ago in Donbass. The Ukrainians will now reach the border with Lugansk and hit Lysihansk. Unless the Russians manage to keep them in Kremina, an area where they are setting up the last line of defense.
Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Retreat Ordered - "Ukrainians had the upper hand"
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the troops were forced to leave the city due to the threat of encirclement. In particular, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports that Russian troops and Donbas militias were forced to withdraw from their defensive positions, as Kyiv launched a large-scale attack targeting the region."Due to the looming threat of encirclement, allied troops withdrew from the settlement of Krasni Liman and deployed to more advantageous positions ," the ministry said in a statement.

Despite the losses, the Ukrainian command sent reserves and achieved "significant superiority in men" in the direction of the attack, the Russian ministry also said.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian army announced that it had entered the city. He previously announced that he had "encircled" several thousand Russian soldiers in Liman, a railway hub of critical importance to Moscow.

On the surface, this would seem to be a crazy move guaranteeing a NATO Article 5 war. However, since Putin check mated the West with the annexation of the Donbas, it may be thought that by bringing Ukraine under the umbrella of NATO protection that the war would come to a stalemate. Then NATO could slowly diminish Russia's coffers by forcing them to station large amounts of troops in the new "Russian Territory" for an indefinite amount of time all the while starting other "color revolutions" in neighboring countries bordering Russia.
This would bind up thousands of troops in Ukraine at the same time spread their military thin over other countries. Eventually, with the help of sanctions, the Russian economy would come under pressure with the hope that Putin would come under pressure and be removed.
I am sure there is a pro-Western Russian party just waiting in the wings to take over Russia if given the opportunity.
In the past, I would have thought this idea would be crazy. However, not today. Will Russia be check mated and forced to stand down if Ukraine was made a NATO member?
At this point, I don't think they can. So, Davos will get the war they desire. Russia will have no choice just like they had no choice but to invade Ukraine to save Russians living in the Donbas and Crimea.
