Strong M7.3 Earthquake Hits Fukushima, Japan

At 11:36 AM eastern US Time Wednesday, a Magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean, just off the coast of Fukushima, Japan. The quake seriously shook the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant disaster site, even though the quake was at a depth of about 63.1km depth.

We were holding the kitchen shelves so they wouldn't fall over and break everything...

On NHK last night they said about 2M customers w/o power, 70 taken to hospitals for injuries sustained in the quake, and 1 death. (This morning they said 2 deaths - I'm not sure how.)

One Shinkansen train derailed without any injuries.

Pretty big quake. Here in Kawasaki it started with a small gentle earthquake which was sort of long, but subsided. A few minutes later the big one came and was shaking everything.

Not sure at all the comment by Forest is intended to be funny..He objectively reviews events of 2011 and looks at Japanese responses to it, which, if truth be told were desperate and irresponsible. We live in a world where 1 in 2 now get cancer ....this week I have lost my sister to cancer ,a friend is losing her daughter 40 yrs of age to cancer ,my cousin is battling tongue cancer and another friend is off to the funeral of her nephew who died from cancer . The predictions are true . All that stuff spilling out of Fukushima has been around this world so many times ..its in everything ,wind, rain, grain, fish everything. So excuse those of us for viewing the current situation wryly and just to be certain the blame lies at the feet of bungling Japanese management not the people.
