Tina Turner, 'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll', dies aged 83 in Switzerland

Tina Turner - one of rock's great vocalists and most charismatic performers - has died aged 83.

In a statement, her spokesperson said: "Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model."

The US-born star was one of the great female rock singers, known for her electric on-stage presence and a string of hits including The Best, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What's Love Got to Do With It.

Among the first to pay tribute were Mick Jagger, Bette Midler, Bryan Adams, the White House and Gloria Gaynor.

Turner first found fame in the 1960s alongside ex-husband Ike Turner, with the classic song River Deep, Mountain High among their repertoire.

The domestic abuse he subjected her to - and her long struggle to get break free - was documented in a 1993 Hollywood film starring Angela Bassett, which won three Oscars.

Turner's life story was also immortalised in a popular West End show that is still running.

The singer's popularity as a solo artist waned in the 1970s and her days in the limelight appeared over, with the singer mainly playing the cabaret circuit.

However, her career was dramatically resurrected in 1983 when a cover of Al Green's Let's Stay Together became a huge hit.

Turner, then in her forties, signed a new contract with Capitol Records which led to the Private Dancer album in 1984.

It went on to sell more than 10 million copies and established her as a mega-star.

The title track from Private Dancer, as well as What's Love Got to Do With It, and I Can't Stand the Rain were among the seven singles from the record.

Her most well-known song - with its distinctive intro, steady build and powerful chorus - is probably The Best.

Released in 1989, part of the Foreign Affair album, it's actually a cover of a song by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler.

Proud Mary is also an established classic, with Turner performing up-tempo dance moves to its "rolling down the river" refrain well into her 70s at live shows.

Born Annie Anna Bullock in a segregated Tennessee hospital in November 1939, she became a Swiss citizen a decade ago.

She lived on a sprawling estate on Lake Zurich with her husband and former EMI record executive, Erwin Bach, some 16 years her junior.

The couple met in 1985, with Turner once telling Oprah Winfrey it was love at first sight when he was sent to pick her up from an airport in Germany.

"He had the prettiest face. You could not miss it," she said.

"It was like saying, 'Where did he come from?' He was really that good looking. My heart went bu-bum. It means that a soul has met. My hands were shaking."

# What's Love Got To Do With It?Dolph 2023-05-25 13:35
Answer: God is love and Jesus was asked, What is the greatest commandment? His reply, Love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and the second is like unto it: Love your neighbor as your self.

Most people can't distinguish between love and lust and have a hard time loving their own spouce.

Some folks worship Hollywood stars, subscribe to People Magazine and call themselves Christians.

Jesus said, Come away from the world and be ye separate. The world operates on lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and pride of life. The born again spirit is at enmity with the flesh. I wonder how many times Turner was on the cover of People Magazine? These are the people that Satan loves to work with and how he has deceived the whole world!

Sad when people die but she had a good run. Personally, I was never a fan but credit where its due and she fought her way back. We should respect her for that tenacity and her will to survive, it provides a clear message to all women beaten down by men, we can do it if we try and often times fare better than those who would abuse us.

Most of the judgmental asses here have no idea what women of her ( my mother’s generation) faced. A legal system that did not take violence seriously and asshole men who knew they could get away with murder……literally.

You certainly have a hobby horse, Jessie.
+1 # You make great pointLexie 2023-05-25 18:10
Agreed, the legal system was set up to deny women the right to divorce. An Irish woman I know was married to an alcoholic for years and when she realised she needed a divorce the judge denied it and sent her husband for help. A lot of women grin and bear it, she did. I married once and divorced him after 9 yrs, 3 of which were spent trying to get him off the booze. Waste of time as he drank and partied his way through nearly 250k. I definitely got my divorce and while sad I moved on and met the right guy for me. Life is a hard lesson for most but we only get one and so if we aren't getting the life we are working for get up and deal with the problem.

Just like Lady Gaga. I noticed Gaga was a man when he did the Superbowl Halftime performance. He dances like a white guy--a bit stiff in the joints. My cohorts thought I was since has come out. I made the Rock Hudson is gay call before he came out as the same reaction.

+3 # Illuminati contract.Marlena 2023-05-25 08:35
Let us remember that all the big music labels are Illuminati and Tavistock controlled...and so are their artists. Ike Turner was basically a pimp, as are so many prominent men in the black community. Pimp culture informs the way they go about things. He treated Tina like his bottom bitch. Sorry--that's the jargon. Now one must ask if anybody would ever have heard of her without his "management". He created their act and polished her as a performer. Ditto for Cher and Sonny--not that Sonny was a pimp or on the same level as Ike. In any case, whatever you heard come out of her was designed to shape the culture according to the globalist plan. We should balance our praise.

Jessiebeaner the Fanboy...lovesick loser. FWIW I like his/her music and thought she/he was a great performer. Credit where it is due. But talent is not enough to get success in the entertainment industry. Ike was Tina's Colonel Tom Parker--Illuminati handler. But she was able to break free and move to better handler. Bette Midler referred to Tina as a "force of nature"...I kinda think that was a veiled expression.

+6 # probably death-jab relatedMountainMan 2023-05-24 18:42
With 60-70% of people being jabbed (and higher in UK, Canada, Australia, Isreal, and probably Europe overall), I pretty much assume most of these deaths are from the clot-shots, especially if they were younger, or otherwise pretty healthy.

Someone below mentioned a kidney transplant, and mRNA interference with normal anti-rejection medication - that makes a lot of sense, as mRNA is essentially "vaccine" (not a real vaccine but rather gene therapy) induced AIDS, OR V-AIDS. Autoimmune disorder syndrome. If folks essentially have their own immune systems super depleted, and now attacking their own bodily organs, it certainly makes sense it would attack a "foreign" organ, even with same blood type.

Folks who are dying most are those with co-morbidities, adrenal charges (such as high performance athletes), and those with repressed diseases that had previously been kept in check- like new cases of shingles, Monkey Pox, Hepatitis outbreaks, and turbo-cancers coming out of remission, in addition to the myocarditis and pericarditis- swelling of the heart, which many experts believe folks can never fully recover from, once the spike protiens through the ACE Receptors attack the heart muscle, which is unique muscle in the body. Also micro-clotting in the blood causing strokes or mini-strokes, and destruction of red blood cells, and reduced O2 transport.

Insurance actuarial data shows the correlations to jabs given and deaths increasing; will likely continue this way, possibly indefinitely to the jabbed. And the US longevity age decreased from like 78 to 72; the first time it has gone down in decades. Sad for people who don't see or know this.

Also new data says Vioxx probably killed 5 million (mostly elderly before finally recalled. Yet people think pharmaceutical industry can be trusted.
I read about incurable eye clots somewhere now more common.

I can't say I was a fan.

I didn't think she had a good voice nor was she very attractive (these are things we both have in common).

I never understood her success.

That being said, I hope she got her soul right with the Lord before she passed.

Ultimately, that is all that really matters.

My condolences to her family, friends and fans.
+5 # WWIIIVercinge 2023-05-24 18:10
For many decades I have been fascinated by rock. Then I discovered and understood since at least two decades that rock is satanic music. There is no good rock and bad rock. Rock is music that appeals to the basest instincts of human beings, even at inconscient or subconscient level.

In short, rock has been and is one of the most powerful tools with which satan through America has corrupted the whole world.
The thought of where the souls of unrepentant deceased rock stars as well as their unrepentant deceased fans are in this moment and forever, can only arouse a feel of deep sadness, if not even of horror.

Folks, it is strongly advised not to make fun of oneself, indulging or cultivating a false illusory even blasphemous and extremely dangerous belief that God is good and forgives everything and everyone, because when we shall die and we will appear before Him we will clearly see and understand the hypocrisy of our life towards oneself, others, above all towards our Creator.
At that instant the first to condemn ourself will be ourself, for our life, if not openly AGAINST Him, PRACTICALLY without God that we didn't want to know, to love, to serve, as we should have, that is 24/7.
