If true, they should be careful what they wish for - years ago at a science fiction convention, a "fan" approached writer Theodore Sturgeon (a real character as many of them were) and told him "90% of science fiction is sh*t". I have been reading the account of Katanga Secession from Congo-Brazzaville in the early 60s of last century. Mineral-rich Katanga fought a war of secession under a very smart tin-pot dictator Moise Tshombe, who had business education degrees fro Belgian unversities.. During an episode in history that ended in 1963, Communist Patrice Lumumba, leader of Congo was assassinated under the watch of UN, and his body dissolved in a vat of sulfuric acid borrowed by Tshombe's Minister of Interior from one of the Belgian mining companies in Katanga. The UN General Secretary, a Swede, Dag Hammarskjold died when plane was shot down in Katanga in September 1961.

The rebellion ended when UN replaced its useless Irish Army Blue Helmets with tanks flown from Europe to Congo and started flying combat missions in Katanga using Swedish Air Force SAAB jets in support of Cong's "norderners". This decimated the Katanga Air Force of a dozen improvised WWII combat planes manned by hard-luck veteran pilots of Battle of Britain in WWII. After about three years the war ended, Tshombe left Katanga with 1 billon new francs ensconced in Swiss banks and millions of dollars in unpaid bills including over a million owed to his mercenary pilots and 4 more million in military equipment and planes that were on the way. The war was financed by Swiss bankers and Belgian mining corporations. In 1967 Tshombe was kidnapped from his French Rivera villa and ended up dying in Algerian prison in 1969.

The question arises, who is running our country the way kleptocrat Tshombe was running Katanga?
