Uh Oh! Gold Jumps $64.30 an Ounce - TODAY

Uh Oh! Gold Jumps $64.30 an Ounce - TODAY

The Spot Price of Gold Bullion jumped $64.30 per ounce today (+3.34%), reaching a cost of $1987.30 per ounce during regular market-day trading.   Once the market closed, Gold continued to rise, reaching $1993.70.  as of 5:42 PM eastern US Time (+3.68%).

This is taking place because people are pulling cash out of Banks and out of Stock Markets, and rushing to WHAT THEY ***THINK*** is the "safety" of Gold.   In fact, what most of them are doing is buying "Paper" Gold . . . . allowing someone ELSE to hold the actual metal for them.    If things in the financial markets continue NEXT WEEK, as they've been going this week, all those "Paper" Gold holders . . . . may find out the hard way, they have nothing.  Only people who took actual delivery and have the gold in their own hands, are safe.

According to a new study reported by the Wall Street Journal, one-hundred eighty-six (186) additional banks have the same issues that faced Silicon Valley Bank before it collapsed.

Given that this is now being publicly reported - albeit DELIBERATELY after the markets closed on Friday -- this weekend could result in an actual "Black Monday" when markets re-open on the 20th.  (We will all have to watch pre-market conditions when futures trading opens up Sunday night.)

Given all the government activity last weekend, as Silicon Valley Bank and then Signature Bank collapsed, it is entirely feasible that government action may also take place this weekend.

What will YOU do if the government orders a "Bank Holiday" next week, and none of the banks can open?   What will YOU do if all the ATM's, credit, and debit cards are OFFLINE for a Bank Holiday?   That could mean every store would be CASH ONLY;  No credit, Debit, or even EBT cards!   How will you eat?  How will you put fuel in your car?

You had better prepare while you still have a slim window to do so: This weekend.

Most banks request 24 hour notice when pulling more than $2000 out especially if your in a smaller town. Some branches in large cities will as well. They just have to order the cash.

Who are these folks who buy precious metals yet some company store them? You don’t trust banks, economy, the dollar, etc but trust some company is actually going to get your gold to you if the SHTF? Or this company suddenly filed bankruptcy?
Also what about platinum? It’s currently few hundred lower than previous, maybe good time to purchase?

is a purely industrial metal and in a collapsing economy will not be in high demand. Gold and silver have been monetary metals for thousands of years. Hold gold for large purchases, ie income producing property. Hold silver for barter on consumables.

Silver prices is like looking a gift horse in the mouth!

I can't believe that it is not well over $50 an oz these days!

$20'is an oz was the price 10 fuking years ago! And it is still there.

I would put a lot of my savings into silver after you have covered all of the other bases.
+3 # Historically silver is 50 to 1 with gold.LilBirdie 2023-03-17 21:54
At that disparity silver is undervalued by 43%
At $1989.30 the price of silver should be about $40 per ounce.
Soon or later the meddling in the market will end. Historically established values will return.
Silver is still an excellent purchase.

Just my opinion
# Silver's Real PriceDolph 2023-03-18 14:30
There's a premium one must pay to buy silver. It's real price is $37.

Eight years ago I cashed out of my house and put it all into gold and silver.

Smart thing today to do is sell your secondary cars, motor homes, boats, second homes, stocks, bonds, what ever and buy gold and silver. Silver for bartering, gold as a store of value. Junk silver is important or fractions of oz. silver. One oz. coins will soon be too expensive to use to buy things like food and gas. Consider leasing a car. Sky is the limit for G & S, especially silver which is already under priced. Trouble with silver is it's too cumbersome when you get into the big numbers.

I have some food from my post toasty years but don't expect to be here when the bombs drop.

Hope Hal has a fireplace and a few cords of wood.

The concern with gold and silver is when the dollar goes to zero, they will simply make it illegal to possess gold and silver. They will force people to turn it in, in exchange for CBDC credit. It will be hard to find someone or someplace to accept as payment gold and silver as it would be a felony. Black market isn't going to pay spot price for these metals and your only other option would be CBDC anyways. They have us cornered like rats.
# CBDC Likely To Become The Mark Of The BeastDolph 2023-03-18 14:55
You won't be able to buy or sell w/o the mark, the name or the number of his name, 666. This happens at mid-trib, 3 years from now, when the A/C takes power, Rev.13. So you may be safe going on CBDC until then.

A sign that it's the mark of the Beast or A/C is if they make you deny Christ in order to take the mark. Taking the mark is a ticket to Hell. Many will be martyred before they take the mark, his name or the number of his name, 666. (Those who become Christians after the rapture)

Putin gave a speech at the beginning of the Ukraine conflict. He said the west was going to get an education on true wealth. Money, paper and financial assets are not true wealth.
True wealth lies in resources! Russia is a wash in natural resources.
So is America. Unfortunately, our is now "unrealized" as our ability to aquire/utilize it has been impaired.
When hard times return "we the people" will be forced to utilize those resources again.
Precious metals will always be worth something. There will always be someone willing to barter for it because they can hold it until better times.
There are things that will always hold value. Excess food for example.
That gold/silver might trade for a big premium but it will trade.
I'm sitting heavy enough on somethings that I'd make that trade for gold. Banking on better times in the future where it will benefit my family.

Ah, this is not surprising. The old, long-term treasuries are now underwater (that is, having unrealized losses) and the banks, IMO, appear to be in the same position as many homeowners were in the 2008 crisis when they had mortgages that were were larger than the (then) current market (resale) value of their properties.

If the banks don't get forced into having to sell those underwater assets, then there may be a chance that this can be weathered. But it's sort of like trying to get across a frozen pond with thin ice. Very carefully.

# jrdTrojan73 2023-03-17 20:34
the banks can sell their long term treasuries to the Fed for par. They will lose no money
+2 # It doesn't quite work that wayLilBirdie 2023-03-17 22:29
The fed window is only overnight
Each night they have to turn in their balance sheets.
Those balance sheets reflect their stability.
It's like buying a car, the amount you paid is value the bank looks at when they buy your loan. (give you money to purchase it).
If you pay that monthly and nothing happens to maturity that is the value of the loan.
Say you get into an accident and the insurance company gets involved, they'll only pay wholesale price for that car. Your loan just experienced "unrealized losses". You are expected to make up the difference.
Each day when the banks do their books they have to figure in those "unrealized losses".
It they sell them at the overnight window for par instead of wholesale their books balance.
Next morning they buy them back
Those securities are earning between .08 & 2%. Unfortunately the cost of doing business is closer to 6-8%.
If they have enough reserve to keep this game going they'll be alright.
If they don't and are forced to sell those securities early they will then "realize" those losses. ( It is a loss because nobody will pay retail on a low interest note when they can now buy loans for a much greater return. The seller must make up the difference)
This is what their talking about when they speak of selling at the fed window.
It's a shell game of shuffle the money. It won't last forever.

Please keep in mind the price of gold in the West is set by the City of London (banking square mile) each day. They will only allow it to rise IF IT PLEASES THEM and it goes down WHEN IT PLEASES THEM. It has really nothing to do with supply and demand, which would seem logical. As long as the Rothschild family is in charge, they’ll set the price they want it to sell for.

Being prepared is one thing, banking on the fact that the system will continue somewhat like normal for a while is something else.

Lots of assumptions and lots of normalcy bias.

What makes one think that ANYTHING is going to be the same ol same ol?

Will stores even be open? Will gas even be available? Will anyone, or any business even be willing or able to sell things for cash?

There might be a VERY short window of opportunity to use cash after banks close but the attitude that it will last for days or weeks is very presumptuous.

The closer we get to TEOTWAWKI, the less people seem to want to believe it. It was fine in theory, but now that it might be staring us in the face there seems to be a lot of denial by those same people who used the term every other sentence a few years/months ago.

Get cash out of the banks? Sure!
Keep a stash just in case? Absolutely!
Expect that it is all going to work according to plan? No!

A lot of people are going to be panicking unto death if their scenario doesn’t pan out like they expected.

As Bill Holter says, “if you are excited that gold could hit $10,000 an ounce, or more, be careful of what you wish for because life will suck big time if that happens”

Prepping is a Godly idea and is not wrong in and of itself, but putting trust and faith in that stuff is a very bad idea.

Places will take cash for a while, even when it first starts. People who have been through this say that cash was good after an event like this. Now, 'they' say that in the event of a grid down, you have anywhere between 4 and 7 days before they stop taking it. Otherwise, you can always use cash but you simply won't be able to buy anything due to being priced out of it. Hyperinflation is no joke so it's best to spend it as fast as you can get it before prices go up again.

One man talked about being in a country where hyperinflation hit. He went into a cafe` and ordered a cup of coffee. $0.25 a cup. He read his paper and when he finished his cup he ordered another one. When he got the bill it was $0.75 for 2 cups. It had gone up 100% while he sat there. His advice was "If you are going to drink 2 cups order them at the same time."
