اردوUkrainian forces have destroyed almost all bridges and mined the roads along the border with Belarus, Anatoly Lappo, chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus, said on Sunday. Minsk has accused Kiev of planning imminent strikes on its territory.
"Today, almost all border bridges have been blown up, and automobile and railway border routes are completely mined,” Lappo told Belarusian TV.
Ukrainian forces have fortified the border "to the extent that they put anti-tank mines in three rows on the roads," Lappo said.
The troops Kiev has sent to the border are “not border guards,” Lappo claimed. “We are under pressure, they are aiming at our border guards, sometimes they shoot in the air, constant aerial reconnaissance is being carried out,” he added.
A day before the news broke, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry claimed that its ambassador to Belarus was summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry and handed an official note saying that “Ukraine is planning to conduct a strike on the territory of Belarus.” The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that it “categorically rejects” the accusation, adding that it could be part of a Russian plan to “stage a provocation and further accuse” Kiev.
Earlier this week, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko accused Ukraine of massing tens of thousands of soldiers near the border. While Lukashenko allowed Russian troops to enter Ukraine from its territory at the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, he said last week that Belarus’ role in the conflict is limited to self-defense and denying Ukraine the ability to “shoot Russians in the back from the territory of Belarus.”
With tensions along the 1,000-kilometer border rising, the Belarusian Defense Ministry stated that it has the capacity to field 500,000 trained troops “if the need arises.”

Passengers flee train during 19-hour ride from Michigan to Chicago

The train first stopped about 19 miles west of Ann Arbor due to a power issue with the engine, according to Amtrak Senior Public Relations Manager Jason Abrams. It was then coupled with Wolverine 353, another train that left Pontiac around 8:50 a.m., to be pulled to Chicago.
“Right off the bat when our engine went out, that also killed our electricity. So, we didn’t have charge and the bathrooms didn’t flush. You could use the bathroom, but it was like using a porta potty and that’s not great,” (the waste smell increased with each use)
Once getting to Jackson, Kobiljak deboarded.
“I didn’t get off the train until 3:30 p.m. and I got off in Jackson. So, I was on the train for nine hours and only made it like halfway through the state,” she said.
Kobiljak’s family picked her up and drove her to Kalamazoo for the night. They planned to drive the rest of the way Saturday so Kobiljak could run the Chicago Marathon on Sunday.
But it got worse for many who stayed on board.
Bambery said the “real problem” started when the train stopped abruptly just east of Chicago near Gary, Indiana. Passengers were told the crew needed to be swapped out, but the train didn’t seem to stop at an actual station. Hum?
“No heat, no electricity and at this point it’s dark, so no lights,” he said. “They were cracking glowsticks to give us light. The toilets are overflowing because you cannot flush these toilets without electricity, so it smells awful. It’s really cold and there’s just a skeleton crew on board.” (Temps that night dipped to 43 and got as low as 37 degrees by the morning)

Pearson said they were escorted off the train by police officers and had to trudge across the tracks to a small opening in the fence surrounding the yard, where they snuck through.

One of the videos of the attack showed a car, that was right next to the blast in the other two uncolllapsed lanes, drive on out of the fireball looking unscathed, and then it suddenly burst into an intense white fireball and disappeared.
But Russia is right there, and has access to the forensic evidence, so I'm sure they will figure it out, just as I'm sure they know what sank the Moskva.

I just don’t get it. I would at least give Ukraine a black eye for optics at the very least. Pop something somewhere. It’s really making me question everything. I’m just being honest. For the record this isn’t a attack on Hal’s reporting. I’m just thinking out loud here. I just really don’t know what to think right now. Quite frankly I’m embarrassed because I’ve been a staunch supporter among my friends and family about Russia and how capable they are. But right now….I’m embarrassed.
The retreating troops. The pipeline. The Crimea bridge. And now the bridge to Belarus. Yet Putin does nothing? This is the kind of thing that just might actually cause a uprising in Russia. Not because Putin has taken the nation to war but because Putin doesn’t seem interested in winning the war he’s already gotten them into.
As far as the Air Force question, the Russians lost an unacceptable amount of fighters early on from the US/NATO MANPADS, which are pretty idiot-proof, if I understand correctly. . They had to change their tactics from close air support, where they became exposed to ground troops, to targets such as remote artillery where the infantry presence wasn't so great. Then Ukraine started grouping artillery with ground troops to provide support, and Russia had to go with artillery, missiles, and kamikaze drones. Ukraine has no defense against these, and they can cause severe attrition to the artillery and MLRS of Ukraine. So for right now, Russia seems to be primarily using fighter/bombers for long-range isolated target hits, and using their strategic bombers instead for mass ground attacks and infrastructure. I don't think the fighters have a big role right now.
In general, I don't think fighters have much of their conventional role left for any side, when two peer armies are fighting. They have too many vulnerabilities to modern countermeasures at low altitudes. Chaff and flares are so nineties.
Russia tried attacking with 150k vs at least a million Ukrainians. (Ukraine mobilized it's entire army on the first days and since has sent entire Armies to the West to be trained and sent back. The attack they are now leading is those troops along with a sizable force of NATO "mercenaries". Anyone with a brain knows a lot of these troops are actually black op's that if ever captured would be disavowed.
What actual losses of men/material on BOTH sides is anyone's guess because neither side can be trusted to tell the truth. The verified material losses by both sides though has been the largest of any since WW2. Maybe Korean war?
The best I've seen at actually documenting material losses is Oryx. Every loss comes with it's own picture of the actual piece of equipment that was lost and doesn't include anything not documented. Even then I'd take this with a grain of salt.

If they use the thermobarics there, it may cause a public outcry in the West when what remains of the ukrainian army goes up in smoke, but literally in a flash the war will practically end in one operation. With so many provocations aimed at Russia, I am wondering if Russia's patience is explained in trying to hold off the big guns until after the US midterms, robbing the Democrats of their distraction of needing a "wartime majority" ?

Even if Russian leadership is able to finesse the situation into delaying the all-out war, by means of limited military activity and a very large mobilization force standing by until November, everyone and every nation's public opinion has a breaking point, with all these provocations. World War III's start may be getting out of the control of the Russki leaders because now the general public is beginning to say, "Screw it ! Let's go !". IntelSlava Z had a panelist who said flatly, if Russia does not retaliate severely for the Kerch Bridge attack, it will show President Putin to be weak. What is Mr. Putin to do with such sentiment, when he is trying to find a way to prevent the start of the destruction of humanity ? At the point of existential threat, which the West is trying very hard to achieve, I have no doubt Mr. Putin will also throw down and unload, as he loves Russia, and the public will be behind him. I have no doubt he has a love for all of humanity as well, and takes his actions with the weight of the world on his shoulders, unlike our self-involved, immoral, and highly corrupt leaders, but his job is to protect Russia from existential threats of all types. In previous years, he has done this job well in rebuilding Russia's military as a peer to any nation.
If holding out until November is the plan, then Putin's meeting today and any subsequent announcement may contain direct threats and ultimatums, but without immediate actions; intending quietly for such actions to take place after the elections.
November elections are still 29 days away- that's gonna take some iron will to resist actual retaliations against US/UK. So, the "other" solution for Russia would be to take out the whole field by surprise and have done with it. Then which Uniparty side wins becomes irrelevant.
