Ukraine Cut-off Fresh Water Supply to Crimea When it Returned to Russia

For seven years, the Kiev government in Ukraine has blockaded a vital fresh water channel that once provided around 85% of Crimea's water supply. To this day, the water remains cut off.

Ekaterina Vtoraya (the one who had officers wear tight white pants) did not incorporate Crimea until 1783. The territory of Crimea, previously controlled by the Crimean Khanate, was annexed by the Russian Empire on 19 April 1783 after decades of unsuccessful wars going to Peter the Great, who in 1686-1700 waged a disastrous war against Turkey in Crimea
In May 1687, he had sent a massive army (~140,000 men) and, joined by Ukrainian Cossacks they marched on Crimea where they were defeated by the elements and Ottoman's scorched earth policy. The period before the annexation was marked 100 year Russian armed interference in Crimean affairs, a series of inconvenient revolts by Crimean Tatars after annexation, and Ottoman indolence. The annexation began 134 years of rule by the Russian Empire, which was ended by the revolution of 1917. Between 1917 and final takeover by USSR in 1921, Crimea was owned by the following succession of entities and countries:
*Crimean People's Republic—December 1917–January 1918—Crimean Tatar government.
*Taurida Soviet Socialist Republic—19 March 1918 – 30 April 1918—Bolshevik government.
*Ukrainian People's Republic—May 1918–June 1918.
*First Crimean Regional Government—25 June 1918 – 25 November 1918—German puppet state under Lipka Tatar General Maciej (Suleyman) Sulkiewicz.
*Second Crimean Regional Government—November 1918–April 1919—Anti-Bolshevik government under Crimean Karaite former Kadet member Solomon Krym.
*Crimean Socialist Soviet Republic—2 April 1919–June 1919—Bolshevik government
South Russian Government—February 1920–April 1920—Government of anti-Bolshevik White movement's General Anton Denikin.
*Government of South Russia—April 1920 (officially, 16 August 1920)–16 November 1920—Government of anti-Bolshevik White movement's General Pyotr Wrangel.
*Bolshevik Revolutionary committee government—November 1920–18 October 1921—Bolshevik government under Béla Kun (until 20 February 1921), then Mikhail Poliakov.
*Crimean Autonomous Socialist Soviet Republic—18 October 1921 – 30 June 1945. Autonomous republic of the USSR in the Soviet Union (ie captured nation)
Russia (just like China) in all of its its former incarnations going back to Ivan the Terrible in 15th century, was an ever growing Prison of Nations. It was historically a bi-continental nation eater that kept on growing due to Russia's mastery of mass production of 6 pounder howitzer cannons, going back to before Napoleonic times. They could always field their 6 pounder cannons to every battle in numbers tenfold greater than any particular neighbor with whom they had decided to go to war. Ramparts were amply manned by Russian serfs, conscripts from captured nations and Jews as well, who all had to serve in the army for 25 year, just like in Roman Legions! The universal draft was obviously not a cakewalk. The 1863 Polish National Uprising alone had cost Russia 150 thousands in military casualties. Poles who were outnumbered more than 10:1 in howitzers and small arms lost 300 000 men.
