My son and I were driving home from a quick trip to a local Supermarket today at about 4:10 PM.
A black Bear, ran out onto the road directly in front of my pick-up truck. Had to jam on the brakes so he could get across the road. He was running at a good clip, too. Maybe chasing something?
Did not hit him, thank goodness.
I stopped and when he reached the farm field you see in the image, he stopped and turned to look directly at us in the truck!

A local up here told me yesterday that most black bears are already in Hibernation up here, but the young ones, who didn't fatten-up enough are still out. He told me this time of year, if you see a bear, he's coming to EAT YOU."
He went on to say they aren't merely curious this time of year, their instinct is forcing them to fatten-up fast and literally anything that it can attack and eat, it will.
Ahhhhhhh, life in the country.
