D.E.I. Hits US Air Force: $14 Million Engine in F-35 "Destroyed" when Mechanic Leaves Flashlight inside

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity seems to have struck (again); this time in the U.S. Air Force.  A Mechanic left a flashlight in the engine of an F-35, then started the engine to test it; destroying the engine as the flashlight got ground-up inside.  Cost: Fourteen MILLION Dollars.

The engine was destroyed at Luke Air Force base in Glendale, Arizona, in March 2023, on a plane with the 56th Fighter Wing.

The F-35 jet was undergoing a routine check of its propulsion system, and a metering plug was inserted into an engine fuel line.

Mechanics worked on the engine, closed it up and fired it up for testing.  They let it run for 13 minutes.

When they shut it down, they heard a grinding sound inside; it was a flashlight one of them left in it.

Blades inside the jet engine were damaged beyond repair.  It will cost $14 million to replace the engine.

But hey, who cares? As long as whoever did the work was LGBTQ+ "sensitive"  and doesn't mind "trannies," who really cares if they actually pay attention to their work?
