Eastern USA to Get "Weather" Today - "Likely Risk of Severe"

My area of northeastern Pennsylvania is part of a large area of the eastern U.S. being warned of "severe" weather today.  Tornados are said to be "likely."

As of 8:02 AM eastern time Monday morning, we here in northeast Pennsylvania are soaked from rains that came through overnight.  But that was just the setup for what's _forecast_ to be on-tap for later.

My area of Pennsylvania is being told conditions for later today will mimic, or be worse than, June 1, 1998, when an F3 tornado stormed through nearby Lake Carey, PA, wreaking havoc.

Here's what we're already being told on weather apps:

Even though the weather radar is presently clear for over 100 miles, except for the rain that moved through overnight, the _forecast_ for today is for long duration Thunderstorms:

The Humidity is the big thing this morning: 87%.   When the heat energy of the day builds from the sun reaching it's peak during daylight, all that moisture heats.  And that's when the trouble starts.

Back in June of 1998, a small town not too far from where I am, Lake Carey, PA, got hit with an F-3 tornado.    It came across the lake, over the mountain which is located to my west, crossed MY road, and contiinued east for a little bit . . .  less than one mile north of where I am sitting, writing this story.

Here's how some local TV news covered the various anniversaries of that day:

Here's actual video from just a few days later, showing the destruction:

Of course, there's no telling if there actually _will_ be any tornadoes here -- or anywhere else -- today.  But those of us in the eastern USA need to be mindful that conditions are such, that Tornadoes are very much possible today and IN PLACES WHERE THEY ARE NOT COMMON.
