PJM Interconnection, LLC, has declared a "Level 1" EMERGENCY for the 13 state eastern United States electrical grid. PJM has directed all power plants to increase output to "full capacity" today, Thursday, July 27, because of a heat wave.
PJM operates the largest US electric grid. They issued the "ENERGY EMERGENCY ALERT LEVEL ONE" because PJM is concerned about being able to maintain adequate electric power reserves on July 27.
