Merchant Vessel DALI on-the-move! Freed from Bridge Wreckage after Collision in Baltimore Harbor

The Merchant Vessel DALI, which collided with and collapsed the Francis Scott Key Bridge of Interstate 695 into Baltimore Harbor, has been freed from the bridge wreckage and is now MOVING, via tug-boats, out of the federal channel toward a pier.

Early this morning, around 3:00 AM, thirteen (13) tug-boats took positions around the DALI and when High-Tide peaked at 5:25 AM, those tug-boats began to gently start to pull the vessel backwards.

The ship weighs so much, that the tugs had to pull until 6:51 AM EDT to overcome inertia, and cause the stranded DALI to begin to move.

The vessel is now actively moving, albeit at a snails pace, and will be towed about 2 1/2 miles up river, to a pier, thereby making it possible to rapidly clear remaining bridge debris from the federal channel, and ultimately re-open Baltimore Harbor.
