MSNBC officially rebranded to MS NOW, which stands for My Source for News, Opinion and the World, on Saturday. Its radical, left-wing tripe, and alleged "fake news reporting" is not expected to change.
The name change, which was announced in August, comes as the cable network moves to a new media company, Versant, leaving NBCUniversal as well as nixing the Peacock logo. The network now stands apart from the NBC News brand, which it relied on for resources, journalists, and newsgathering abilities.
“As we all know, the peacock is synonymous with NBCUniversal, and it is a symbol they have decided to keep within the NBCU family,” Mark Lazarus, CEO of Versant, the new company set up by Comcast as part of its spinoff efforts, wrote to employees in a memo shared with The Hill.
“This gives us the opportunity to chart our own path forward, create distinct brand identities, and establish an independent news organization following the spin.”
The rebrand is part of parent company Comcast’s efforts to spin off most of its cable networks into Versant.
Cable news channels have experienced low ratings as more consumers gravitate from cable to streaming services and social media for news.
MS NOW assured its audience that the channel’s mission remains unchanged, adding that viewers will still hear from the same hosts and journalists.
“While our name has changed, who we are has not,” the network said in a post on X. “You’ll find the same commitment to justice, progress, and the truth.”
In addition to the rebrand, the network is expanding live events, adding a “Morning Joe” newsletter, and emphasizing deeper interaction between its journalists and their sources and audience. MS NOW has also built up its own reporting staff and is moving to a new headquarters in Manhattan.
“I didn’t see this as a divorce,” nighttime host Michael Steele said, according to The Associated Press. “I see this as the kid growing up and leaving home. We all know what that’s like.”
All MSNBC programs will continue to air at the same time on MS NOW, and viewers’ respective channel numbers will not change with the rebrand.
