Senator Robert Menendez Agrees to RESIGN

Sen. Robert Menendez, (D-N.J), will resign after being convicted on federal corruption charges.

Despite resisting calls to step down, he conceded after the guilty verdict and threats of expulsion from the Senate.

Menendez was found guilty on 16 counts related to using his position to benefit businessmen and foreign governments in exchange for bribes.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy will appoint a temporary replacement.

Menendez's nearly three-decade career in Congress included chairing the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

He denies the allegations and plans to appeal.
