Sheetrock is in . . .

Sheetrock is in . . .

So the renovation of the kitchen up here at the Pennsylvania "Bug-Out" location continues, slowly.  This week, the guys installed the new sheetrock, shown above.

We ran into a slight complication:  The old opening which housed the refirgerator, did NOT have sheetrock on its inner walls.  We figured out why.   The refrigerator is 36" wide and the opening which housed it, was also 36" wide.   So if we installed 1/2" thick sheetrock, we would only have an opening that was 35" wide -- not wide enough for the refrigerator.

To fix this, we had to MOVE A WALL.  Nothing's simple.

So the guys moved the wall (the one to the right of the refrigerator) two inches.  That left one inch for the two sides of 1/2" thick sheetrock, and then left 37" for the refrigerator to slide in and still have a half inch on each side open for ventilation.

Once the wall was moved and the sheetrock was in, time to spackle.

Thursday, Friday, and this morning, another guy came to do the Spackling.  He left two fans running all night to help it dry because it's been very humid here, and with this house having a 100' wide creek along its eastern boundary, there's always a lot of moisture here.

I figured leaving the Air conditioner on would do it, but he said it wouldn't, so he left the fans running.   Noisy critters at night.

Tomorrow, (yes, Sunday) he comes back to sand, prime, seal, and paint.

Once that's all done, the original crew can come back to do the new floor planks installation, then the kitchen cabinet installation, the tile backsplash, and another guy has to come to take a template for the new countertops.

So it __appears__ I will have much of my kitchen back as this coming week progresses.

What a project.  I cannot even begin to tell you how frustrating it is to not have a kitchen; not even a kitchen sink, for weeks!  Real pain in the A**.

I'll put up pics when it's done.
