The US federal government has shut down for lack of a Spending Bill which was being filibustered by Democrats. Without Congress passing a spending Bill, no agency of the federal government can continue in operation because they have no money to spend. Today, YOU will start to see how much you DON'T need the feds . . .
Let's begin with what is still functioning:
People on Social Security and Disability WILL still get their money.
The armed forces WILL continue protecting the country, as will law enforcement like FBI, DEA, and Border Patrol.
As for the rest . . . . police, fire department, emergency medical services (EMS) . . . . they're all taken care of by either your local town, city, or county. They are all still operating as usual.
If you call 911 for police, fire, or EMS, they will still come just like always.
The street lights will still turn on at night. The traffic lights will still work. That's all a function of local, county, or state governments which are not shut down.
Banks and stores will all be open. Trucks will still be picking up and delivering food and packages.
So your life will be mostly UNAFFECTED by the now-closed federal government.
Which begs the question: If we don't need these people for our everyday lives, why do we have them?
It's a fair question.
When this nation was formed, the federal government was __supposed to be__ a government of limited power and limited functions. Read the US Constitution. The __only__ things the feds are __supposed__ to do, is all in there!
But over decades, politicians decided they wouldn't adhere to the Constitution. They started expanding the areas in which the federal government operates and in most cases, nobody challenged them.
After decades of this nonsense, we have arrived at the point where the Federal Government meddles in our lives with their rules, laws, henchmen. This now-Goliath- has mis-spent literally TRILLIONS, to the point where they owe $37.5 TRILLION to creditors, and are now paying over $1 TRILLION a year just on Interest for the money they've borrowed.
They've used this money to wage wars and military conflicts which were none of our business, all over the planet.
They've used this money to create welfare handout programs, so the lazy can sit on their ass at home, not work, but still collect money and food. In return, those lazy-ass people VOTE for the very politicians who arranged these hand-out programs, and so that's how many members of Congress and the Senate keep getting re-elected. The lazy Welfare people - and the mental weaklings - are the ones voting them in!
The politicians have now gotten so drunk with their own power, they're pushing shit like "Trans-gender" which doesn't even exist in real life. In real life, there are only two genders: Male and Female. Sadly, we have some severely mentally ill people who make-pretend they are something other than the actual biological sex they are. Politicians want the rest of us to play make-pretend along with them! Most normal people refuse.
These same politicians vote to give foreign "aid." which is free money to foreign countries. It occurs to most normal people that if our politicians have enough money to GIVE SOME to foreign countries, then WE are paying too much in taxes!
Now that the feds are shut down, much of that spending will stop. A lot of people think it would be just fine, if the feds stay stopped. Forever.
Which brings us to the REASON the Democrats won't approve the spending bill: They want another $1.5 TRILLION in spending for things like paying for the healthcare of ILLEGAL ALIENS!!
Yes, you read that right. They want almost all of the spending cuts (waste, fraud, and abuse) detected by DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) to be restored! The Republicans simply won't do that, nor should they.
So because the Democrats want to put us further into debt, and pay for benefits to people who shouldn't even BE HERE, the rest of the country is being held hostage.
Democrats should be run out of office for what they're doing; but too many mental weaklings keep voting for them. Until something happens to change that, we're stuck.
