Forty-two million people in the United States face the shut down of their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at midnight tonight. Congress has failed to perform its function by approving a Budget and as such, hunger approaches many.
With Democrats in the US Senate having voted fourteen times AGAINST a Continuing Resolution (CR) which would have kept the federal government operating, no additional money has been allocated for the SNAP program, which funds are paid through the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. People who receive such benefits (commonly called "Food Stamps") will not see their EBT cards replenished until the Senate acts.
"Democrats have spent a month playing with people's livelihoods because the far-left wing of their party won't let them accept a clean, nonpartisan CR. If they want to prevent damage from their shutdown, then they can end their shutdown. The bill is right there at the desk," Senate Majority Leader John Thune wrote on X.
Democrats are refusing to vote to end debate (i.e. cloture) on the CR and until they agree to stop debate, the CR cannot be voted upon. In the Senate, it takes 60 votes to halt debate, but Republicans only have 53 Senate seats. They need 7 Democrats to vote with them, but they have only gotten three to do so. As such, Debate goes on and the Bill cannot be passed.
The reasons the Democrats are withholding food aid are absurd:
Democrats want the American people to pay $200 Billion to provide Healthcare to ILLEGAL ALIENS.
Democrats want to spend millions more on LGBTQ+ programs in FOREIGN COUNTRIES.
The Republicans simply refuse to spend money on those things, and as such, the Democrats are refusing to pass the CR, which is resulting in forcing hunger on their own citizens!
Unless citizens remind the Democrats who they actually work for, the Democrats have no incentive to vote in favor of their own people.
Democrats who find themselves going hungry may wish to gather in protest at the private homes of these Democrat Senators. They are able to peaceably assemble to petition for redress of Grievances. Perhaps if these Senators are confronted at their homes this weekend, they will be reminded about who they are starving and correct their misguided behavior early next week.
People who do NOT depend on government to feed them, are strongly advised to ARM THEMSLEVES when going food shopping. Numerous videos are appearing all over Social Media in which people say they will outright steal groceries not only from Supermarkets, but actually ROB people who have paid for such groceries, when those people are bringing the groceries out to their cars in supermarket parking lots.
Normal people may end up having to SHOOT the would-be thieves so as to defend themselves and their grocery property.
Those who depend on government to feed them are learning a valuable lesson: When you give government the power to feed you, you ALSO give them the power to starve you. This is why Communism and Socialism never work.
