This past weekend, my Donation system showed that some $23,000 had been raised, after a Donor from Texas keyed-in a donation of $20,001. Turns out, that Donation was a severe error. It was __supposed__ to be only $20.
I spoke to the cardholder this afternoon. He is a Subscriber to this site since the year 2021 and his phone number is in his member profile. I told him that I was calling because on Friday night into Saturday morning, at 3:42 AM my time, a donation with his name on it, came in for the amount of $20,001.00
I asked him "Did you intend to donate $20,001." and he replied "no." He went on to say that he intended to donate only $20.
I told him I was refunding the full amount, and he would see the credit on his card statement in a few minutes.

I have to tell you it was really quite amazing to me, how many people made this donation THEIR business. I got several emails telling me I had some nerve trying to still raise funds even though I had gotten "X" amount. I got other emails telling me I had a duty to do this or that with the excess money. It really was amazing to see.
I got other emails from other people telling me various other things they thought about this donation, mostly how I "don't deserve" such support . . . . of course, NONE of them had EVER donated, so to hear crap like that from them was a joke. If THEY never donated, who are THEY do decide what I "deserve?" What nerve!
But much to my chagrin, other folks wrote and told me that THEY HEARD I had gotten a big donation and so they DIDN'T Donate. When they told me "they heard" I wondered to myself "What the hell is going on here, do some of these people have some online channel where all they do is sit and GOSSIP about other people? What is it, the "Old Wash Woman" channel where they sit around back-stabbing other people?"
Well, for what it's worth, now, . . . . . . I DON'T have that big donation because it was a mistake and has been fully refunded.
As of 4:17 PM EDT on Monday, November 27, I am still $3,978 SHORT for meeting the expenses this month.
