China publicly FIRED its Minister of Defense, Li Shangfu, today. No word yet as to why. Immediately after his departure, China began military moves. On of those bears watching: the relocation of a Roll-On / Roll-Off (RO-RO) Ferry now heading toward Xiamen (opposite Taiwan).
China's Defense Minister Li Shangfu was fired today, two months after he disappeared from public view, becoming the second high-profile minister to lose his job recently without any official explanation.
Li was also removed from his positions as a member of the Central Military Commission – a powerful body headed by Chinese leader Xi Jinping who ultimately commands the armed forces – and as one of China’s five state councillors – a senior position in the cabinet that outranks a regular minister, state broadcaster CCTV reported Tuesday.
Meanwhile, People's Liberation Army (PLA)-associated RORO ferry Bo Hai Zhen Zhu (Bohai Pearl) has left its normal ferry routes on the Yellow Sea and is headed south, with a claimed destination of Xiamen.
Xiamen is precisely opposite the island of Taiwan.
This RO-RO ferry has been used in the past by the PLA to carry armored vehicles in "exercises" that just happened to simulate China invading Taiwan via Amphibious Assault.
With the US heavily engaged in the Middle East, and running low on ammunition and missiles due to US involvement with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, several officials in the US Government are now openly wondering if China has decided it is time to invade Taiwan?
