Things with the Russia - Ukraine/NATO (proxy) war just took a very UGLY and DANGEROUS turn.
Over the weekend, Russia launched Iskander missiles at a military honors ceremony in Sumy, Ukraine. The Ukrainians were giving awards to, among others, troops and Officers who invaded Kursk, Russia - before being forcibly ejected by the Russian Army.
The Ukrainians chose to hold this awards ceremony in a civilian area in Sumy, Ukraine.
Russia struck the building where the ceremony was being held, killing a large number of Ukrainian military.
Around 200 Ukrainian military personnel, including the command of the "Seversk" operational-tactical group, were present at the attack site in Sumy on Sunday, according to sources in security agencies. Among those hit were officers from the 95th and 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigades, the 21st Separate Mechanized Brigade, and the 117th Territorial Defense Brigade of Ukraine.
Sadly, a number of civilians in the area were also killed by the very large blast:
Needless to say, Ukraine omitted any reference to the military ceremony taking place, and publicly accused Russia of "targeting civilians." It wasn't true, but in this war, Ukraine and truth seem to be mutually exclusive. Ukraine lies about almost everything.
Those lies were picked up by - and expanded-upon by -- the dimwit from South Carolina, Lindsay Graham, who, on social media, described the Russian missile strike as being ". . . a Barbaric Palm Sunday Attack against Christian worshippers."
Christian Worshippers????????? Clearly the attack had absolutely nothing at all to do with Palm Sunday or with Christian Worshippers. Does he make these things up as he goes along? How did a Ukrainian military awards ceremony morph into "Christian Worshippers?" The outrght and deliberate fraud being perpetrated by Senator Graham's words in this statement is mind-boggling.
As Ukraine pumped-up the "civilian deaths" propaganda, Leaders in European countries publicly blew their gaskets.
English Prime Minister Kier Starmer, whose rinky-dink 77,000 man army cannot even fill Webley Stadium in London, publicly screeched:
Why would Putin do that? His country is already winning the war.
Moreover, what will England, a puny country with a pipsqueak army do about it?
But it was incoming German Chancellor Fritz Merz who upped-the-ante in the most dangerous way since the start of the conflict. Merz suggested on April 13 that long-range "Taurus" missiles, if delivered to Ukraine, could be used to target strategic Russian military infrastructure in occupied Crimea, including the Kerch Bridge.
The 19-kilometer-long (12-mile) Crimean (Kerch) Bridge, was constructed following Crimea voting in a public referendum to secede from Ukraine and join Russia in 2014. The bridge was completed in 2018, and serves as a vital supply route for Russian forces. The bridge has been targeted by Ukraine multiple times, suffering heavy damage in strikes in October 2022 and July 2023.
In an interview with ARD’s Caren Miosga, Merz emphasized the need to support Ukraine in moving from a reactive to a proactive stance on the battlefield, saying Kyiv must be equipped to "shape events" and "get ahead of the situation."
"If things continue as they are, if, for example, the most important land connection between Russia and Crimea is destroyed, or if something happens on Crimea itself, where most of the Russian military logistics are located, then that would be an opportunity to bring this country strategically back into the picture finally," Merz said.
While outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz has repeatedly blocked the delivery of Taurus missiles over his concerns about escalation, Merz has long criticized that stance.
With Merz poised to take office following his Christian Democrats’ election win, the decision to supply Taurus missiles could soon return to the political agenda. It remains uncertain whether his future coalition partners from the Social Democrats will back the move.
These remarks by Merz caught the attention of Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia before Vladimir Putin, and presently the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council - their version of a Senate.
In public media postings on various social media platforms, Medvedev said this:
Did you catch those final words "Think twice, Nazi."?
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council just publicly called the incoming Chancellor of Germany, a "Nazi."
This isn't just name-calling. This is serious. Way serious.
In World War 2, Germany invaded much of western Europe and then attacked what was then the Soviet Union. The Soviets - mostly Russians - fought back ferociously. It was the most battle-deadly front of the entire war.
Russia lost twenty-seven MILLION people fighting the Nazis.
When Russia repelled the Nazi army, the Russians chased them all the way across Europe, back to Berlin. There, it was the Russian "Red Army" that stormed Berlin and conquered Nazi Germany.
Not the Americans. Not the British . . . . . the Russians.
Fast-forward to the present Russia-Ukraine conflict, which is a Proxy war, by NATO, against Russia. Germany has been supplying Leopard Tanks which have been used on Russia soil but were finally repelled. Now, the incoming German chancellor wants to provide German "Taurus" Missile to destroy the Kerch Strait Bridge, and the Deputy Chairman of Russia's Federation council just told him "Think twice, Nazi."
This is not rhetoric. This is not "posturing." Medvedev means it.
With three small words, Medvedev explained the Merz and to the entire world, what this situation is actually becoming.
It seems to most rational people that Germany was taught a horrifying lesson in World War 2. They should not make the mistake of attacking Russia again.
Using Ukraine as a Proxy for Germany to launch German-supplied and programmed missiles, will not relieve Germany of the responsibility. Germany would be an accessory to the war, and just as responsible as Ukraine for any coming Taurus missile attack.
