I had to have two Molar teeth pulled today; one on top, left, all the way in the back, the other beneath it, bottom left, all the way in the back.
Apparently, old fillings in those teeth "lost the seal" and decay set-in around the fillings on the inside of the teeth. I started getting pain in the bottom left rear tooth on Friday last week, then over the weekend, much worse pain in top left rear tooth.
Dentist is closed on Monday, so I go to the dentist today. He does a Panoramic X-ray, then individual x-rays of the affected teeth. Tells me the bottom left is so decayed inside, it is now like an eggshell; can't even do a root canal and a crown because there's not enough base to put a crown on. The top tooth, similar; the decay went so deep, even if he did a root canal and filled it, the structure of the tooth below the gum line will not support a crown for more than a year.
So I agree and he begins taking the teeth out.
That's when I actually started thinking these Dentists are full of shit. He had so much trouble getting the roots out on both teeth, it made me question whether or not the profession of Dentistry itself, isn't just some Racket nowadays. If he had to work THAT hard to get the remains out, why couldn't Dentistry develop technology to take advantage of fully intact roots? Why the pry-bar-type necessity? Took over a half hour on each tooth to get the roots out.
You had to hear the cracking noises as he was doing it. I asked, is that the tooth cracking, or my jawbone. "Probably the tooth."
Probably?????
Had to get additional shots of Novocain or whatever it is they use nowadays because as he's prying one of the roots out, I could FEEL IT!
So I'm back home now. I have big gauze in each hole where the teeth used to be. I can taste blood because - thanks to the anti-clotting medicine I have to take since blood clots caused my second heart attack a couple years ago-- , my blood doesn't clot as fast as normal people.
Dentist told me I might bleed for four to five HOURS.
He also told me "No Smoking" to which I replied "Fuck you."
He said it interferes with healing. I responded, You doctors blame smoking for everything; if you could have blamed COVID on it, you probably would have.
Anyway, the left side of my tongue is still numb, so I can't feel if I'm biting down on the gauze or biting my tongue, and apparently I keep inadvertently keep biting it. It's annoying the hell outta me.
So I'm having a lousy fucking day.
