Hong Kong BLOCKS Postal Shipping to USA

Hong Kong suspended postal services for goods to the U.S. on April 16, 2025.

This immediate disruption is UN-expected and likely due to escalating trade tensions, following a brief U.S. Postal Service ban on Hong Kong and China parcels in February 2025, which was reversed after potential disruptions to platforms like Shein and Temu.

The suspension aligns with heightened U.S.-China trade restrictions, including the U.S. closing the “de minimis” exemption in February 2025, which previously allowed tax-free shipments under $800, impacting low-cost imports from China.

This move could disrupt global supply chains, as Hong Kong is a major shipping hub, potentially raising costs for U.S. consumers already facing inflationary pressures from recent tariffs and trade policies.
