As of 1:55 PM eastern US time, the Houthis in the country of Yemen are engaged in attacking yet another merchant vessel in the Red Sea.
Reports are coming in confirming a vessel has been attacked by multiple RPGs from small craft.
Yesterday's attack started with small craft engaging the ship and then anti ship cruise missiles were launched forcing the crew to abandon ship. That vessel was last reported burning and sinking.
This morning, the Houthi social media account claimed the ship had sunk.
After the Houthis attacked that vessel, Israel sent fighter jets to conduct bombing raids against Yemen in an effort to halt the attacks. Despite that bombing raid, the Houthis have attacked another ship today.
The Houthis make clear they attacked (and allegedly sank) the vessel yesterday because it is operated by a company that continues to provide ocean container services to Israel. The Houthis say their attacks will not cease until Israel halts its Genocide against the Gaza Strip.
Houthi statement:
"By the grace and power of God, the ship "Magic Seas" completely sank into the depths of the sea, after it was targeted by our armed forces in response to the repeated violations by its owning company of the decision to ban entry to the ports of occupied Palestine. The last of these violations was the entry of three of its ships into the ports of occupied Palestine last week, despite the warnings and calls issued to it by our naval forces."
UPDATE 2:15 PM EDT --
Two crew members are reportedly injured and two others are missing aboard a Liberia-flagged vessel located 49 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen, according to Ambrey.
