Houthis Seize French Ship in Red Sea

#Houthis in #Yemen have reportedly seized a French cargo ship in the Red Sea amid reports that nearby U.S. warships declined to answer a distress call from the French vessel. The US is upset at the French for declining to join its "Operation Prosperity Guardian" coalition in the Red Sea.

We are still awaiting confirmation of the name of the vessel taken, but the reports about the seizure are so numerous we felt it necessary to issue this report early.

The effect of the ongoing Houthi actions out of Yemen, have actually resulted in the Israel port of Eilat being . . . empty.

For the first time in history, the Port of Eilat is completely empty of ships, following the Yemeni Armed Forces' operations in the Red Sea and attacks against Eilat.

Egyptian TV channel "Al-Qahira Al-Akhbariya" showed satellite images of the empty port, which has seen its revenue drop by more than 80 percent.

Eli Lancry, the head of the local authority of Eilat told Hebrew Channel 12 that the settlement is collapsing, describing it as "moribund."

"There is no tourism in Eilat, and no one has the desire to come here," said Lancry, explaining that the threat now is no longer just a matter of security, but also economy.
