Earlier this week, it was reported that Israel demanded Lebanon remove Hezbollah from the southern portion of Lebanon, to north of the Litani River, or war could follow. Lebanon responded with a counter-offer, that they would have Hezbollah withdraw if Israel would withdraw from the 13 disputed points on the northern border.
France & the US have informed the Lebanese government that Israel rejects Lebanon's counter-offer.
Since Israel made clear they would expand the present conflict in Gaza and open a northern front, unless Hezbollah withdrew to north of the Litani River, we can now expect more war to break out.
HAL TURNER EDITORIAL OPINION
Israel is being VERY foolish. Hezbollah is orders-of-magnitude more powerful than Hamas, whom Israel is presently fighting in the Gaza Strip.
The last time Israel did battle with Hezbollah, Israel got its butt kicked.
Since that conflict, Hezbollah has gotten very much stronger.
For Israel to deliberately widen the ongoing Gaza conflict, and open a warfront against Hezbollah in Lebanon on the north of its country, seems suicidal to most educated observers.
