A stunningly powerful earthquake has struck the country of Burma in the Far East, near India. Bridges and tall buildings have collapsed, roads have buckled, reports say hundreds are trapped beneath rubble.
The Magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck at about 2:20 AM eastern US time today, at a shallow depth of only 10km according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). It was followed by a Magnitude 6.4 earthquake 12 minutes later.
