On Tuesday evening, an utterly massive Denial-of-Service attack was launched against this website as well as all of its streaming audio servers . . . it was so thorough, it knocked the site down, and knocked the radio station feeds off the air!
Thankfully, the techs at the radio stations were able to re-establish the connections, WRMI at 9:18 PM, WBCQ at 9:34 PM. WWCR did not re-establish, but instead ran a re-run of an older show.
To give you an idea of how advanced this attack was, the radio stations each get their feeds from SEPARATE IP addresses from SEPARATE servers! The only ones who know those IP's are each radio station -- no one (other than Amazon AWS) can even find out those IP addresses; yet someone did. That tells me, government attacker - or someone inside AWS itself, which I doubt. Either way, for the first time since 2015, they took down the radio stations too. This is a very big deal requiring a very big response.
My tech guy is presently on vacation, so it will take a few days until he gets back to look at the inbound server logs, to determine where the attack came from, and to take steps to mitigate future attacks.
It will be very much harder - if not outright impossible -- to determine who initiated the attack, but we will endeavor to do so.
For the immediate future, we will be changing IP addresses for both outbound feeds and servers that stream the audio.
Because the show was attacked, below is a link to a FREE audio archive for all to listen to, so they can hear what they missed. Enjoy!
