UPDATED 9:12 AM EST WEDNESDAY -- "No Closer but No Farther Apart"

Word is out from inside the Kremlin in Moscow about today's almost 5 hour meeting between the US and Russia about the Ukraine conflict.  "We are no closer, but also no further apart” Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov says after nearly five hours of talks with the US delegation of Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.

 

UPDATE 9:12 AM EST WEDNESDAY --

"The successes of the Russian Armed Forces in recent weeks have had a positive impact on the course and nature of the negotiations between Putin and Wittkoff in the Kremlin"

There is no compromise agreement yet. We did not discuss specific formulations and solutions, but the essence. The parties see great prospects for cooperation;

On Trump's peace proposal for Ukraine: "we are ready to agree on something. Something caused criticism. But a useful discussion took place";

Moscow has received four more documents in addition to Trump's original 28-point plan for a settlement in Ukraine;

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways of further settlement;

The essence of the US settlement plan was discussed, not specific proposals;

The parties discussed the prospects for achieving a long-term peaceful settlement in Ukraine;

The parties expressed their readiness to continue working together to achieve a settlement in Ukraine;

Representatives of the US president conveyed greetings and best wishes from Trump to Putin;

Putin sent greetings to Trump through Witkoff and a number of political signals;

The possibility of a meeting between Putin and Trump will depend on what progress is made towards a settlement;

"International recognition of the peace treaty is the subject of negotiations between Russia and the United States. No other negotiations are underway"

Russia and the United States have agreed that they will not disclose the essence of the negotiations.

"If any European leaders want to talk, welcome to come to Moscow" Russia emphasized that Europeans refuse all contacts
