UPDATE: Landed safely -- Plane Carrying Pete Hegseth Declares In-Flight EMERGENCY

The plane SAM155 — a U.S. Air Force C-32A — carrying Pete Hegseth just declared a 7700 emergency south of Ireland.

Flightradar shows the jet suddenly turned back mid-flight with no public explanation.

Plane is squawking 7700 via its Transponder, which could mean an engine failure, medical issue, onboard fire, or another general emergency

UPDATE:

The aircraft suffered a crack in a windshield which resulted in de-pressurization of the plane.   Pilots had to descend to an altitude of about 12,000 feet so there was breathable air inside the plane.

The fight continued until it landed safely in the UK.   No one was hurt.
