Signaling a major escalation and a possible end to the global test ban moratorium, Russia today responded to U.S. President Donald Trumps declaration that the US was to immediately resume nuclear weapons tests.
Sergey Naryshkin, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, reported to Putin this morning at a Security Council meeting in the Kremlin, that "Russian diplomats have asked the American side for clarification regarding Trump's instructions to the Pentagon to move on to nuclear weapons testing."
At that same meeting, Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of the Security Council and former Russian Defense Minister, told Putin "We do not fully understand the U.S.'s future actions regarding conducting - or not conducting - nuclear weapons tests."
Russian Defense Minister Belousov, also attentding the same meeting, proposed that Putin immediately begin preparations for a nuclear weapons test on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.
He claims that the United States plans to deploy missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region that would have a flight time from Germany to Central Russia of 6-7 minutes.
At the end of this meeting, Putin gave a green light to Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense to submit proposals on the possibility of nuclear tests "If the United States and other parties to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty conduct nuclear tests, we will take appropriate measures"
Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Dmitry Medvedev, said this on social media:

All this because President Trump said THIS on his way back to the US from Asia:
Which he later confirmed on Social media with this posting:
