Reports are coming in CLAIMING there has been a leak at the Rostov nuclear power plant in Russia, resulting in a huge leak of radiation.
Reports circulating on Telegram claim that radioactive isotopes with a radioactivity of up to one and a half million curies have been released into the atmosphere from the Rostov nuclear power plant.
The radioactive cloud is reportedly moving inland, towards Saratov. The radioactive background in Rostov is allegedly already 75 times higher than the norm.
Serge Volin, who claims to be a retired CIA analyst, wrote on his Telegram channel: "The background radiation in Rostov, according to Rossatom's inventions, is normal, but in reality, it has already exceeded the norm by 75 times. Health to those who are glowing."
Andrey Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Centre for Countering Disinformation, also claimed there had been a lethal incident at the plant.
He wrote: "Radiation accident at the Rostov NPP. The radiation cloud is moving deep into the Russian Federation. This is also a consequence of the 'Special Military Operation'."
However, Russia's Agency for nuclear power Rossatom strenuously denied the claims and said the units at the plant were working normally and that the radiation background was at natural levels.
There have been large power cuts in southern Russia and Crimea, which Telegram sources are blaming on the alleged accident at the Rostov plant.
On Tuesday officials at the plant had to disconnect a power unit due to a failure of equipment.
With the sources of this information being a CIA guy and a Ukrainian "Disinformation" Center, it is wise to treat this report as "suspect."
More details when and if they become available.
UPDATE 1:33 PM EDT --
Radiation monitors in the Rostov Region of Russia are ALL showing "normal" levels of typical, normal, background radiation that exists everywhere in the world!
UPDATE 1:38 PM EDT --
Additional radiation monitors also showing ALL NORMAL:
Starting to appear (to me) that the CIA guy and the Ukrainians made this up out of whole cloth. There seems to be absolutely NO TRUTH to the radiation leak claims, whatsoever.
