Russia Deploys Frigate with Hypersonic Missiles into Mediterranean Sea

Frigate Marshal Shaposnikov

After Russian President Vladimir Putin told the United States that intervening against Iran would result in Russia intervening to support Iran, a Russian frigate with hypersonic missiles entered the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

A Russian frigate equipped with hypersonic missiles entered the waters of the Mediterranean Sea this Sunday after crossing the Suez Canal, after which Moscow stated that the vessel "will fulfill its assigned tasks", without further details.

The frigate Marshall Shaposhnikov transited the Suez Canal.  "The ship's crew continues to carry out their assigned tasks as part of their long sea journey" the Russian Ministry of Defense said this morning.

"In the Mediterranean Sea, the Pacific Fleet frigate will operate in line with the previously planned combat and training line." the Ministry continued.

At the moment, there are no further details about this plan, or how long the frigate will remain near the Israeli-Iran conflict zone.
