US President Donald Trump has called another meeting of his National Security Council which began shortly after 6:30 PM Saturday evening. CIA Director Radcliff was seen entering the West Wing, presumably for that meeting.
At stake is what to do about the Israel-Iran situation.
Israel conducted a sneak attack upon Iran over a week ago, claiming they had "crossed the Rubicon" for creation of a nuclear bomb. The only intelligence provided by Israel in support of this conclusion, was also derived by Israel. The suspicion in the White House is that the Netanyahu Government manufactured the intel to suit its own desire.
Worse, once Israel began attacking Iran, it soon became clear that Iran wasn't simply going to roll-over like so many other countries have done when attacked by the Divinely Entitled little bully country, Israel. Iran attacked back!
Areas of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem now bear a striking resemblance to areas of the Gaza Strip, which Israel has also been mercilessly attacking for about three years. Iranian missiles have been getting through Israeli defenses, and now the Israelis are panicking that perhaps they can't do-away with Iran's nuclear program on their own; they need big brother America to come in and finish the job.
But the United States is not legally capable of acting in that manner. A President of the United States cannot order an attack upon another nation unless that nation attacked the United States, or unless Congress declares war. Neither situation has taken place.
Moreover, it is not within the authority of the United States (or Israel) to tell Iran they cannot enrich Uranium. No country has the authority - on their own or from anywhere else - to make such an ultimatum to any other country.
So Israel has gotten itself into a very big mess; one they cannot finish off, and their big brother is not legally able to ride to the rescue of the psychotic, paranoid, little Israeli bullies.
It is not known what course of action President Trump intends to take. If he orders an attack upon Iran, the military may REFUSE that as an "illegal order" absent a declaration of war by Congress.
If the military carries out the order, Congress may IMPEACH TRUMP for waging war without authorization.
Meanwhile, vast military assets of the United States have been massed in the Middle East, waiting for a lawful order to do something. It is not known if a lawful order is actually coming.
