The Russian Foreign Ministry reports that Washington has agreed to a new Russian ambassador, Alexander Darchiev.
He is expected to depart for his post in the United States soon.
Darchiev is 64 years old.
From 2014 to 2021 he was the Russian Ambassador to Canada, from 2021 to January 2025 he was the Director of the North America Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and since January 2025 he has been the Director of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
