Over this past weekend, a Ukrainian fighter jet, flying over the Russia-Ukraine war zone, radioed a Russian air base to announce he wanted to surrender - along with his SU-27 fighter jet!
The Russians agreed to allow him to land at a base, but made clear that he would be "locked-on" by fire control radar, and if this was some sort of trick, to sneak in and attack, he would be blown out of the sky. The pilot agreed and Russian forces engaged fire-control "lock-on" to the jet.
The pilot flew precisely as instructed, and landed at a Russian base, surrendering himself and his plane.
Turns out, he was not merely a pilot, but a Flight Commander!
No one was hurt during the surrender. Russia now has possession of the attack aircraft, similar to the one shown in the FILE PHOTO above.
